From the desk of Ted Cantu, a former Advertising Exec turned Defector

Just in case you’ve lived in a cave the last 18 months, I will fill you in Podcasting. In short, there is a radio show online. You can come on week after week and get your marketing messages to millions at any time you want. This is total freedom.

But what many people do not realize is that podcasting can be used to get incredible search engine ranking. This is a very powerful thing to keep in mind. That is what this mini-course is about to show you.

Currently, as I write these lines, I have the number on the 10th People Podomatic in the company. Its been like that for some time. I did not have to buy my way to the summit. I just plug in a microphone and for her. I blurted to advice and business secrets and kept a pure format in 40 minutes.

More to the point that I never asked permission to do that. I just took action.

The truth is, in fact, I hated my voice when I started. But because I have done so many times and have listened more myself and more, I adjusted. Now, I’m not self conscious of all this and I am used to how I speak.

GETTING STARTED:

If you are considering podcasting, you are probably wondering both, a) what it is, and b) why you want to participate. Suffice it to say (that you start your trip) that podcasting is an extraordinary means of obtaining audio equipment heard by an audience wherever and whenever they wish. In terms of why you should podcast, however, the reasons are as varied, unique, beautiful, exciting and controversial as there are voice in the world. Just turn on a microphone and join the conversation.

It’s really fun. Yeah, we’ll start with the basics. If I had to say, “podcasting allows you to convert audio data via an RSS feed sent by a home …” the sound of your yawning would drown the click of your mouse as you ventured to another site.

Podcasting is about creation. It is to take your ideas, dreams, ambitions, its business objectives, or for any other reason that you should use your voice to create a lasting record of this content and making it available to others. And one reason why it is so fun because it’s easy. Getting a microphone, press a couple of buttons, and start talking.

And if you think “, but what would I say? I’m not funny or interesting, and nobody will care about my performance.” In short, I disagree.

You May not get an audience of 10,000 listeners, but the public that you do will be quite interested in what you have to say.

That’s why they call podcasting the ultimate means of marketing niche. If you’re not in the marketing of all means, you can speak directly and specifically to people who are against listening to try to speak in general terms to broadcast to a wider audience.

Think about it like when you were a child and two boxes strung together with string or used walkie-talkies, what do you say to your friend when you pushed the button to speak? In some ways, he matter? The joy was to communicate the joy to talk to one another using a fun way. Podcasting is just like that.

Radio Days - my life as a radio host struggling

Well before my days as a rebel marketing (one that will soon show! Fall 07) I had a radio in the market of Detroit Metro. To say that Detroit is fighting is a minor. This market has seen its many parts of falls. I managed to get a radio show on a small AM station in the winter months of 2003.

Our power has not passed the city limits. The ride to the station was cold, dark and dangerous. It is in the worst neighborhood you can imagine and I had to pay for this experience of their own pockets.

The number of people I would like to achieve each week numbered in the dozens. Not tens of thousands but tens. In fact, I would like to get the same ten people call me every week and none of them never to buy any of my health products that I sold at the time. Most customers would show people because they were lonely and wanted someone to talk to.

It was pretty depressing as you can imagine.

The only one who had money in this “act” is yours truly. I literally had to deal with this type of nonsense week after week. The bleeding stopped when I stopped the show a few months later. We could never get authors to put this show on the air. Detroit is a policy despite all the hype jovial. Drawing on taking over the whole thing was the smartest thing I ever did.

Needless to say I do not miss those days too.

A crack in the clouds

I first heard of podcasting and I ran to it. I had a show set up in a few hours. I did not like the first one I put together, but I wanted every week. Today, I had about 20 episodes and I continue to emerge with a new show once a week. You can find them here
