Nokia released the Nokia 6212 classic on April 15, 2008. Featuring integrated Near Field Communication (NFC). The 3G handset allows consumers to easily share content, access services and information, as well as conducting payments and ticketing, with a tap of the camera. Nokia 6212 is expected to begin classic shipment in the third quarter of 2008 in markets in Europe and Asia with an estimated retail price of 200 euros before taxes and subsidies.

Although Nokia 6212 adopts classic style, there are a lot of features you can’t get from classic cellphone. nokia official press release described the product :

“NFC-capable devices like the Nokia 6212 classics are changing the way mobile phone users to interact with devices and services in their environment,” says Jeremy Belostock, the head of Near Field Communications, Nokia. “With the Nokia 6212 classic, people can exchange things like business cards or calendar notes just by typing their combined together. With ever-increasing peripheral functions and services available, the ease of use is essential. One way to keep things simple is NFC. ”

Near Field Communication is designed to be intuitive, easy and safe interaction between electronic devices. By typing a tag-enabled NFC, consumers can receive new content such as Internet links, audio files or data contact directly on their mobile phones. They can activate a profile in their camera or open applications such as FM radio or Web browser. Photos and videos can be easily shared by tapping another NFC-compatible phone and NFC pairing with a Bluetooth-enabled device, like the new variant of NFC Nokia BH-210 headset, occurs with single touch. The lightweight Nokia BH-210 with headset NFC allows users easy access to all the functions of a single multifunction key. The widely compatible headset can be used with a number of Nokia and other phone manufacturers.

The classic Nokia 6212 can also be used as a ticket for travel or mobile payments. Tickets may be charged on the air, so there is no need to wait at the service. Users can store their credit card information on the device and access their online account directly from the handset. Using the Nokia 6212 classic for payment and ticketing requires a subscription to the service and installation of a protected application. Transaction security is assured as the device can be set to allow payment only when the user explicitly authorizes the transaction through an additional passcode.

The Nokia 6212 enables consumers to customize conventional and edit their own NFC tags, either to the writing or calendar entries fixing the clock. The pack sales of the Nokia 6212 is equipped with three classic sticker tags, one of which opens the NFC introduction into the phone.

The classic slimline Nokia 6212 comes with a full set of features such as a 2 megapixel camera, bright 2-inch QVGA, stereo FM radio and music player supporting various formats. One option microSD memory card up to 4 GB offers ample space for content such as images and songs.
