Apple Buys Chip Company; PA Semi
Apple has made a deal to buy a microprocessor design company called PA Semi, that they’ve projected to make future chips for iPods and iPhones.The PA Semi company was started by Dan Dobberpuhl this, lead designer of Alpha chips, who last year announced a 64-bit dual core processor that is said to be about 300% more efficient than the nearest competition.
The decision to center around the Apple iPhone design a chip that could own marks a significant strategic choice by Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobsand is aimed at ensuring Apple can continue to differentiate its flagship phone as a raft of competitors flood the market.
The executives of the Apple believe the company they have just bought, has the capacity to create powerful microprocessors, so that it’ll be able to support just about any imaginable Apple’s software applications masters can imagine.
