iphone 3g problems

Many iPhone 3G users have complained on websites and blogs that Internet speeds have been inconsistent, iPhone drops calls and has unpredictable Internet links, even in good 3G range area, the phone tends to revert to slower EDGE connection.

An Infineon chip could be at the root devil of the complaints according to research report from Nomura. Richard Windsor from Nomura wrote in research note that the problem will likely involved 3G connection chip, made by German’s Infineon. He said:

“We believe that these issues are typical of an immature chipset and radio protocol stack where we are almost certain that Infineon is the 3G supplier. There are too many instances on iPhone blogs and Apple’s own website for it to be coincidence. Furthermore, it is not just the U.S. but other countries as well.”

Apple tends to restricts its suppliers from talking about their relationships, but several analysts have cited Infineon as the supplier of the main processor for the iPhone 3G. So, who’s going to be blamed for this problem? I think Apple should find a way to solve the real problem…
