Electronic Voting Machine Vulnerability
Students who took the advanced levels of computer security training from Rice University in Houston city, is rumored to be able to break the software used in voting machines, that’s been a general application used in the election process, Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
What’s the emphasis by the professor and deputy director of Rice University Computer Security Lab, an institution that in charge for the training. The students are given the freedom to give their best to break EVM.
In order to succeed the project Wallach divide the students into two groups to perform two tasks in different phases. The first stage, the team has been formed ostensibly to be a programmer with malicious software on the voting machine that can change the results of the election but the vote will not be detected by the authorities.
The following phase of this experiment by a team that was second to act as a regulator software general election. Task Force aims to explain the code has been entered by the team’s first task in the beginning that have been made.
However, despite reported EVM can be broke by the students, Wallach also ensure that in real life this is actually already too late because the voting machine that is now being used far more complex and not as simple as that.
