OLPC G1G1 Coming to Europe

Here’s the great news for Europe market, you might not believe this, OLPC’s Give 1 Get 1 program has finally goes to Europe, the program was previously launched last year in the United States.

The OLPC G1G1 where it will be available from Monday, November 17 at Amazon just like the US. The price is approximately 312 Euros, to which we have to add shipping costs.

Despite all the interesting stuff, it has some negative points you should notice including the keyboard that will only be available in English / International keyboard. So it’s not possible to customize it.

If we want to make this an OLPC will be a good opportunity, but sure to be hurry because it is more than likely that stocks won’t last for long.

Green IT in the List of 10 major IT strategic technology

Gartner put the Green IT in the list of 10 major IT strategic technology potential in the next three years. Strategic assessment conducted by two Gartner analysis, , Carl Claunch and Dave Cearly. They think that IT leaders should be calculate carefully the cost for a long terms.
Technology is divided into two parts storage virtualization and desktop virtualization. Storage virtualization offers the ease of access to unify the system and save the cost of storage with two duplicates. Meanwhile, the desktop virtualization is to create a more operating system on computer devices.

Other strategic technology which also announced by Gartner are Cloud Computing, Web Oriented Architectures, Server Beyond Blades, Enterprise Mashups, Social Software and Social Networking, Specialized Systems, Unified Communications, dan Business Intelligence.

Going Green Strategy to Save IT Costs

It’s now becomes a global trends that many large companies have taken action too operate in a more friendly to the environment (going green) and it is believed to be able to save the costs related to information technology.

The results of a poll by the provider of storage technology, Hitachi Data Systems showed 83 percent of respondents to go Green action can save costs. Meanwhile, as many as 17 percent of them believe the criteria are not environmentally friendly should be cost efficiency.

Bamboo Cell Phone, Eco-Friendly phone –Just Squeeze it to Recharge.

The circulation of cell phones nowadays is so fast and become overwhelming, that it will indirectly impact on the environment. The more easily people will be throwing their old a mobile phone and replace it with the new one. If there are hundreds, thousands, even millions of used mobile phones that have been damaged and accumulate in the disposal end, it can cause severe pollution.

To reduce the impact of the poor, gadget designers created mobile phone that can be recycled. One of them is bamboo cell phone, which most of the raw materials using bio-plastic.
