Google Chrome’s carpet-bombing flaw

It seems that google is downplaying The Chrome’s carpet bombing flaw, recently Philipp Lenssen interviewed Brian Rakowski from Google here’s the quote;

“Lenssen: are ways to make Chrome automatically download a file without the user confirms this (at least using chromium default). Do not you consider that a potential problem?

Rakowski: On its own, downloading a file is not dangerous. It may be awkward if a site tries to download a set of files to fill your hard drive, but there are other ways of doing things like that and it did not become a problem. The danger arises automatically when a file can be downloaded and run automatically. We have taken steps to prevent this in Google Chrome and will continue to ensure that this is the case. ”

Since its early release Chrome has been getting a lot of criticism internationally, with Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security directing users not to use the browser, alongside the Dutch Computer Emergency Response Team (Govcert. nl) to recommend it to be used for testing purpose since it’s still in the BETA version.
